TARANTO. Oggi, quarta udienza legata all’aggressione omofoba in Via D’Aquino

TuesdayNovember 12th, at the Court of Taranto in Via Marche, starting at 11 am the fourth hearing will be held, linked to the homophobic aggression of which Luigi Pignatelli (non binary artist and trainer) was a protagonist on Via D’Aquino on the morning of June 24, 2016, a week before the Taranto Puglia Pride 2016, when a man, later identified by video footage in Piazza Maria Immacolata, covered Lu with insults at a bar, chased Lu, tugged Lu, grabbed Lu by the hair and made Lu bang his/her head against the window, tore him off the Puglia Pride shirt, punched Lu and threw Lu to the ground in pain, taking Lu’s leave with the following words: «So you learn to not answer!»

At the link A discordant voice does not represent Taranto the article published in the early afternoon of that day at the end of June, with the chronicle of the incident and a long series of solidarity statements.

On September 24, the non-binary artist and activist was heard by the Judge and interrogated by the PM and D.’s lawyer, while on November 12th at the dock they will be a witness and the assistant chief who led the investigations.

The line of defense is the exchange of person.

To tell the truth, it must be said that, at the end of the previous hearing, which was really very painful for Pignatelli, the defendant’s lawyer had shown Lu his empathy, declaring in an entirely informal way: I have nothing against you, I have to do my job.

Shortly after Pignatelli wrote on fb the following words:

«Where are the associations that make a fine show of themselves during international days? Where are they when you are destroyed because your offender is a few meters away from you in court? You are destroyed because you deposed and there was no chair, there were no friendly eyes. You are destroyed because you have reconstructed moments that you had chosen to cancel and the only two most cordial voices were those of a lawyer, old acquaintance, whom you met this morning by chance and gave you a pat on the back, and that of the lawyer of the other side that tells you I have nothing against you, I have to do my job. And you remain silent, because you don’t know what to say and you cry in the corridors of the court, on the street, while you run because you want to get away from this hell and you think you’re happy because your flight is at 3 pm.

And you can’t talk in Italian anymore. And you would like to hold your fingers, the arm of someone who made you dream of a better existence, told you that you are pure fire and that you want to write a new chapter with you. Where are the national associations for the protection of rights? Where are the people who call you my love in a thousand languages, they stick your own where they want them and then do everything to make you believe that everything was just in your head? Where are the human beings when the only thing that would make you feel good is a hug?»

«We do not understand – writes in a press release Carlotta Caroppo, head of the Youth Group of Arcigay Strambopoli QueerTown Taranto – as episodes of such violence may still exist. The Youth Group of Arcigay Strambopoli QueerTown Taranto is keen to let people know how fundamental is the figure of their president, who carries on his/her and our battles despite the evil that very often brought Lu and for this reason Lu has our esteem. Luigi is a true leader, a mentor and a connector of ideas, energies and souls; in Taranto, in Puglia, in Italy and throughout Europe and beyond, with his/her work as an international trainer.»

«We hope – continues V., spokesman of the Taranto Pride 2020 together with Pignatelli – that Luigi will receive a better treatment than the one reserved for Lu by lawyers for the defense of thugs on January 14, 2017 (the report to link A crime is not justified if those who suffered it have strong shoulders). We hope that violence such as those suffered by our president will no longer be perpetuated and that, with the work we are doing, the Youth from Taranto, future adults of this city, will not may be subjected to assaults by sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.»

Several times, the board of the two associations chaired by Pignatelli invited (in vain) the offenders to take part, for free, in the training activities on education for the differences promoted at CasArcobaleno, at Nelson Mandela Intercultural Center and at the various structures that host the programming.
